Subaru Legacy 2012

Issue Status: Discussion

I have a 2012 Subaru Legacy that is experiencing issues with the torque converter. Subaru is aware of this issue and has offered extended warranties to those whose mileage is under 100,000. My car has 139,000 miles on it, making it ineligible for the extended warranty. The company needs to issue a recall on this part. There have been over 100 complaints filed against them for issues related to this dangerous fault. My car will frequently sputter and shut off while I am braking. This has happened in the middle of turning, and on the highway. My wheel locks and the vehicle must be put into park, turned off, and turned back on again in order to keep moving. This has almost caused me two accidents already. I have taken the car into a Subaru dealership, and they told me the repair would cost $2,200. Subaru is refusing to offer me the free extended warranty which covers this repair, forcing me to pay for a manufacturing error out of pocket. The company needs to recall this part.
