Nissan transmission failure

Issue Status: Discussion

Transmission failure on a 2014 Versa at 68,649 miles. Car shuddering or lurching, loud clunking increasingly over a period of three days - right before my appointment for the CVT software recall service. Could not wait for recall appointment as the car was was not safe to drive. Barely made it to dealership. Software patch did not remedy issues. Was told a new transmission was necessary at a cost of just under $4,000. Transmission warranty is 60,00 miles. Was told by service advisor that had I brought the car in for transmission service per maintenance schedule, issue might have been avoided. That was a ludicrous statement as the service manual says only to check the transmission fluid for degradation at each interval. A fluid check will not tell you that the transmission belts are about to break! There are no maintenance guidelines other than fluid check in the service manual. I still owe on this car and now I owe an extra $4K for a new transmission. Service advisor told me to bring car in for transmission service at 20,000 or 30,000 miles. Again, what transmission service? The problem is a defective transmission design. There are so many posts online about others having this same issue. Nissan needs to make it right.
