GM - Cadillac 2004 to 2015 3.6L vvt timing issues

Issue Status: Discussion

There is no recall on this motor from 04 to 2007 but the 2008 and newer are still using the same motor and same design. There are countless reports of cadillac cts owners having timing peoblems in this model cadillac vehicle between the years 2004 and 2014 3.6L vvt engine produced by G.M. nothing has been offered to consumers to correct this issue in their first gen cts and other vehicle models running the same drivetrain system. GM has had knowledge of the problem as of 2008 and has not recalled the other 4 years of faulty motors

I have a 2008 Acadia that has been plagued with this problem. The timing chains were originally replaced at around 80k miles, and supposedly with upgraded parts that prevent further occurrences. The vehicle runs and drives great now, but the check engine light is on again for the same issue (140k miles), and I am unable to pass inspection or register the vehicle rendering it undriveable (legally anyhow).

I have a 2006 Cadillac CTS and I can’t drive the car anymore. Everything works beside trying to start the car because of the timing chain. I went to multiple places trying to get the car up and moving. A lot of people said they could not fix it and I would have to go to a Cadillac dealership. I called them and they said it probably cost more than what I have left to pay on the car. I spent a lot of money towing the car everywhere just to get told they can’t fix it.
