General Motors recalls 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, SAAB 9-7x, and Isuzu Ascender vehicles

General Motors

General Motors is recalling certain model year 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, SAAB 9-7x, and Isuzu Ascender vehicles. Fluid may enter the driver’s door module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. The short may also cause overheating, which could melt components of the door module, producing odor, smoke, or a fire.

A short in the circuit board could lead to a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury. A fire could occur even while the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made.

Owners will be contacted and dealers will test the driver’s door module. If the module is functioning properly, a protective coating will be applied. If the module is not functioning properly, it will be replaced. These repairs will be done free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 24, 2013.

I have a Saab 97x. In October of 2012 it started a fire in the driver side door module. Contacted GM/Saab immediately to be informed it was not recalled and still under investigation. Since then I have been informed of the recall with very little help to fix or reimburse, and now have to park my Saab outside since they have Not fixed the original problem. I don't even want to keep the car since I have no idea if it is safe to drive anymore.

Door window went up and down on its own while daughter was driving car, she saw and smelled smoke but the window was up...upon getting home we had no control of locks, windows, or outside mirrors. Not aware yet of recall we just dealt with it, but 3 days ago we went to move car while cutting grass, just turning inigtion switch the window went down, back up a bit then all the way down completly.not being able to get it back up went on internet for research and realized recall. Spoke with them on phone, local dealership closed til Monday morning. Took car to local mechanic to help get window up till Mon and we smelled burning and s!one from panel...he got window up and shimmed it so would not fall in processes we made a decision to cut wire so it wouldn't smoke or catch fire. Called hotline and reported what happened. Monday dealership and GMC refuse to fix car unless I fork over $300 plus to replace cut part.

I own a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer Ext, we have changed the throttle, water pump, and other parts due to the engine loosing power every time we turn to the right side. We loose power and speed, we have to put it on neutral and restart it.
