Health Net Settles With CA Hospitals for Nearly $2 Million Over Policy Rescissions

Health Net of California and Health Net Life Insurance Co. have agreed to pay $1.95 million to California hospitals to settle a class-action lawsuit alleging the hospitals were not reimbursed after the insurers improperly rescinded members' policies after they received medical care.

The suit, filed by the California Hospital Association, covers rescissions by Health Net that occurred between February 2004 and October 2007

The Health Net companies will establish a fund to reimburse hospitals for the services they provided to members whose policies they rescinded. Health Net also will provide each hospital with a list of the patients whose policies were rescinded
