Hollinger International settles securities class action

TO: ALL PURCHASERS OF SECURITIES OF HOLLINGER INTERNATIONAL INC. (NOW KNOWN AS SUN-TIMES MEDIA GROUP, INC.) ("HOLLINGER INTERNATIONAL") OR HOLLINGER INC. BETWEEN AUGUST 13, 1999 AND MARCH 31, 2003, INCLUSIVE (THE "SETTLEMENT CLASS")

YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that the above-captioned actions have been certified as class actions for certain purposes and that a settlement for thirty seven million five hundred thousand U.S. dollars ($37,500,000 USD) has been proposed. Hearings will be held before the following courts set forth in the caption above at the following dates and times to determine whether: (i) the proposed settlement, which includes a dismissal and release of claims against the settling defendants and other parties, should be approved by the Courts as fair, reasonable, and adequate; (ii) the applications for an award of attorneys' fees and reimbursement of expenses by plaintiffs' counsel in the U.S. and Canada should be approved; and (iii) the Plan of Allocation for the settlement proceeds should be approved as fair and reasonable:

To participate in the Settlement, you must submit a Proof of Claim form no later than July 8, 2009. As more fully described in the Notice, the deadline for submitting objections is May 12, 2009 and the deadline for requests to be excluded from the Settlement is April 29, 2009.
