Northeast Health Health System settles antitrust class action

The settlement with the network, Northeast Health, based in Troy, N.Y., was the first to be reached in a series of related antitrust lawsuits that nurses have filed in Chicago, Detroit, Memphis and San Antonio.

The settlement prohibits Northeast Health from sharing current and future wage information about nurses with other health care organizations in the Albany area. In addition, lawyers for the nurses can have access to employees from Northeast Health to help them pursue their lawsuits against Albany Medical Center and other health providers in the area.

The Northeast Health system includes Albany Memorial Hospital, Samaritan Hospital in Troy and Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady.

The settlement covers direct-care nurses who worked in certain Albany-area hospitals from June 20, 2002, to June 20, 2006.
