The lawsuit alleges that Southwest Airlines Co. breached its contracts with customers by unilaterally decreeing that it would no longer honor its own drink coupons that featured no expiration date.
The plaintiff purchased Southwest Business Select tickets on multiple occasions. The tickets included "drink coupons" that were redeemable on any Southwest flight for any alcoholic drink that would ordinarily cost $5 per drink. At the time the coupons were issued, they had no expiration dates.
However, Southwest decided that it would no longer honor those drink coupons based on the need to watch "the bottom-line."
The action seeks to represent a class of all U.S. residents who were issued unredeemed Southwest drink coupons.
